Les deux autres tomes étant //Cathy's Key// (2009) et //Cathy's Ring// (2010). | * Ma description : "La biblioteca de Babel" ("La bibliothèque de Babel") est une nouvelle de Jorge Luis Borges apparaissant dans son recueil Ficciones (Fictions). L'oeuvre accorde une place prépondérante à la figure du livre, plus particulièrement à celle de la bibliothèque. La métaphore de la bibliothèque de Babel est ne figure importante associée à l'imaginaire du livre, elle qui fait référence à un lieu immense contenant tous les livres existants. Elle a donc été une grande source d'inspiration pour des créateurs, tels que l'auteur Umberto Eco dans Il nome della rosa et l'artiste conceptuelle Marta Minujín. Ce concept a aussi été stimulant pour des théories mathématiques comme la "Theory of Nothing" de Russell Standish. Par ailleurs, l'avènement du numérique, par sa visée globalisante, amène une réactualisation des possibilités évoquées par la figure de la bibliothèque de Babel. Le site http://libraryofbabel.info/ par exemple comporte des algorithmes visant à simuler le fonctionnement d'une telle bibliothèque. À noter que si la nouvelle de Borges a en quelque sorte instauré le concept de la bibliothèque de Babel dans nos imaginaires, elle a été à la base inspirée d'une autre nouvelle (plus méconnue), celle de Kurd Lasswitz intitulée "La bibliothèque universelle" (1904). |
